Spartans Ranked Fifth In National Poll

San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State women's swimming and diving team is ranked fifth in the nation in the initial rankings among Division I Mid-Major programs as announced by CollegeSwimming.com on Wednesday.

The Spartans are the highest of three Western Athletic Conference teams which made the November 17th rankings.  New Mexico State is 17th, and Fresno State is 20th.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America, who vote in the poll, ranked Towson University first with 234.8 points, Miami-Ohio (231.9) was second, Princeton (229.5) third and Western Kentucky (227.2) fourth ahead of the Spartans who also received 227.2 points.

San Jose State, competing in the Arena Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. this weekend, has won its last four dual meets and sports a 4-1 record on the year.
