Spartans Finish Second On First Day Of Bulldog Invitational

Fresno, Calif. --- The San José State women's swimming and diving team concluded the first day of the Bulldog Invitational in second place with 229 points.

In her second college meet, freshman Alysha Bush placed second in the 50 free with a time of 23.67, improving her previous mark of 23.85.

To start the day, the 200 medley relay team of Haley Smith, Darcie Anderson, Ashlyn Acosta, and Bush finished third with a time of 1:46.75.

Sophomore Riley Spitser later finished third in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.31 and Allison Davis finished seventh in 2:09.60 in the 200 IM.

 To end the day, the 800 relay team of Spitser, Taylor Solorio, Davis, and Erika Harvey placed finished second with a time of 7:40.23.

"We are generally very pleased with today's results," said head coach Sage Hopkins. "We came in today missing about 1/3 of our team, and I feel that the ladies did a great job of stepping up and staying focused."

The Spartans conclude competition in the Bulldog Invitational on Saturday, October 12, starting at 10:00 a.m. (PT).
