San Jose, Calif. --- The San Jose State women's swimming team will compete in their first dual meet of the 2013-14 season at Stanford on Thursday, September 26, 2013.
Lead by head coach Sage Hopkins, the Spartans come off of a 9-1 season in 2012-13 and their second straight Western Athletic Conference Championship. Stanford completed their season with a 7-2 record and finished eighth in the 2013 NCAA Championships.
Senior Ashlyn Acosta returns for the Spartans after a record-setting 2013 WAC Championship performance. Acosta set two San Jose State records, in the 100 and 200 fly with times of 53.61 and 1:59.03, respectively. She was also a member of the first-place 200 medley relay team along with senior Darcie Anderson.
In addition to Acosta and Anderson, Erika Harvey, a member of the record-setting 800 free relay team, and Taylor Curardo, who is coming off of a redshirt season, are back this year. "We are very excited to begin our 2013-2014 season" says Hopkins
"The team has been working very hard in the pool and weight room, and they can't wait to start racing"
The meet begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Avery Aquatic Center on the Stanford campus.
