The honor is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Academic All-District Team is the first qualifying stage as Anderson now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month. To be nominated, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 or better grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
Anderson, a sophomore from Willows, Calif., competes in the breaststroke and individual medley for the Spartans. She qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke. Anderson helped lead San Jose State to its first Western Athletic Conference championship in swimming. She finished second at the WAC Championships in 100 and 200 breaststroke races and third in the 200 individual medley.
A kinesiology major, Anderson is a President's Scholar after achieving a 4.0 for two of her three semesters. She is a two-time Academic All-WAC honoree and a San Jose State Scholar Athlete.
