Darcie Anderson Named Academic All-District VIII

San Jose—For the second consecutive year, San Jose State women’s swimmer Darcie Anderson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team for District VIII.

The honor is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  The Academic All-District Team is the first qualifying stage as Anderson now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.  To be nominated, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 or better grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.

Anderson, a junior from Willows, Calif., competes in the breaststroke for the Spartans.  She helped lead San Jose State to back-to-back Western Athletic Conference Championships this season.  Anderson swam as part of the winning 200 Medley team at the 2013 WAC Championships.  She is a four-time first team and six-time second All-WAC honoree.  She swam at the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke.

A kinesiology major, Anderson is a Dean’s Scholar this year after being named a President’s Scholar in 2012 for achieving a 4.0 for two of her three semesters.  She is a three-time Academic All-WAC honoree and a San Jose State Scholar Athlete.  Anderson was a 2012 CSCAA Scholar All America Honorable Mention honoree.
