DENVER - San Jose State's Darcie Anderson has been named the Verizon WAC Swimmer of the week for January 31-February 6. This is the second time this season she has received this honor.
Anderson, a freshman from Willows, Calif. (Orland HS), recorded three wins in a dual meet against WAC-rival Fresno State over the weekend in San Jose, Calif. She cruised to a win in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:20.54, nearly seven seconds better than the second-place finisher. Anderson then claimed her second individual title with a time of 1:05.29 in the 100-yard breastroke. Her third victory came in the 200 medley relay as she and teammates Heather Denman, Julia Craddock and Kiley Foster finished the event in 1:46.67.
Anderson earned the honor for the week of November 17-23 and is the first Spartan to be selected twice this season. Craddock (Jan. 5-11), Denman (Nov. 3-9), and diver Jessica Holden (Oct. 6-12) are the programs other honorees this year.
