The Spartans play the winner/loser of the California-Pacific match at 9 a.m. The final match opponent of the team portion of the tournament will be determined after the first match Saturday and will be played at 12 p.m.
Matches at Stanford will take place at the Stanford Sand Volleyball Stadium, the Arrillaga Center for Recreation (ACSR) sand courts and the Wilbur sand courts on the Stanford campus.
The Spartans will also compete in the pairs tournament on Sunday at the stadium and ACSR courts.
San José State begins its second year sponsoring sand volleyball. The sport was approved as a championship by Division I in October of 2014 and will be the 90th NCAA championship. The first championship will take place in May of 2016, and will have an eight-team bracket that will be played in double-elimination format. The fastest-growing NCAA sport, 50 schools are sponsoring the sport as of January 2015.
