Spartan Softball would like to thank everyone who attended SpartaQ III for their support of our program’s goal to build a new Spartan Softball complex.
With an increase in attendance, despite its Halloween weekend date, SpartaQ III was a great success. The day began at as cheerful barbecue teams arrived at the North Gate of Spartan Stadium to set up and begin producing a variety of mouthwatering ribs for our patrons to enjoy and to be judged.
Bart’s Blazin’ Q won the rib competition was elated! The team then astonishingly and generously donated their prize money back to our program!
Patrons taking advantage of our VIP area grew by 50 percent. As the event continues to grow, we will need to increase the number of servers in this area. It’s a GREAT problem to have!
We increased the size of our Family Fun Zone and included free trick-or-treating for kids, thanks to DGDG.com’s candy donation. We also want to express a big thank you to everyone who contributed prizes for our raffle. Those prizes generated more funds than any of the two previous SpartaQ raffles.
We also need to thank Van Ruiten Winery for donating the use of its wine slushy machine. A special thanks goes out to Los Gatos Meats and Bottomley Distributors for their support. Lastly, we would like to thank KNBR-680 AM and Patrick Connor for his help promoting the event.
Thanks all of you, we increased the event’s profitability for the third year in a row. The funds raised have been earmarked to build out our locker room facility in the new softball complex.
We plan on continuing to grow SpartaQ with a goal next year of 70 barbecue teams and increased our prize money. Though SpartaQ III is complete, you can still support our goal of building Spartan Softball’s “field of dreams.” Please select SOFTBALL on the Spartan Foundation donation page!
