Record-Breaking Season Ends With 6-5 Loss At WAC Tournament

Las Cruces, N.M.-In a record-breaking 2010, Kelli Fangonilo made sure to break one more San Jose State softball record in her final game in a Spartan uniform. Unfortunately, a Spartan throwing error allowed the go-ahead run to score as San Jose State lost to Boise State, 6-5, in eight innings Friday afternoon at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament.

Fangonilo topped off her Spartan career with a double down the left field line in the fourth inning for her 17th of the season. That double broke the single season San Jose State record of 16 set by Elisa Barrios in 2005. She ends her career with 40 doubles, good for third and one behind teammate Brittany McConnell who had 41.

Fangonilo was one of San Jose State's hottest hitters in the game as she was 3-for-3 from the plate with three runs scored and two walks. Julianne Aiello followed Fangonilo as she was 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI. Natasha Hawkins and and Alyssa Sulay each were 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Amanda Pridmore made her 40 appearance and 30th game started in the circle this year. She pitched her 18th complete game of the season. Pridmore struck out three for 151 strikeouts on the season, ranking as the fifth-highest total in school history.

Fangonilo, McConnell and Sarah Taylor finish their careers as three of the top-10 hitters in school history. Fangonilo is third at .327, while McConnell and Taylor finished tied for seventh at .303.

McConnell finishes her career with four San Jose State career records. She has the highest slugging percentage at .530, most home runs at 35, most RBI at 166 and the highest fielding percentage at .989.

San Jose State finishes the season with 34 wins, tying for the third-highest total in school history. The Spartans set 11 season records - batting average, .284, slugging percentage, .417, on base percentage, .371, runs scored, 304, doubles, 88, home runs, 38, RBI, 263, total bases, 685, walks, 206, hit by pitch, 30 and stolen bases, 78.
