San Jose, Calif. – The wait is over. The 2017 Mountain West Champion San José State Spartans know where and against whom they will be playing to open the 2017 NCAA Division I Softball Championship.

The Spartans first game of the UCLA Regional (May 19-21) is against back-to-back Big West Champions Cal State Fullerton (33-21). The game is scheduled for Easton Stadium, on the UCLA campus, for Friday at 6:00 p.m., and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

In the double elimination Regional bracket, the Spartans (36-17) will be the visiting team in their first game. If they win will play the winner of the UCLA vs. Lehigh game. A loss means they play the loser of that game.

This will be the fourth time in program history the Spartans have participated in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. San Jose State competed in the 1990, 1992 and 2013 Championships and are 0-6 overall in the competition.
