Softball Splits Doubleheader At Boise State

Boise, Idaho-Julianne Aiello followed up Friday's hits with a 3-for-4 effort in game one Saturday, and the San Jose State softball team used a five-run fourth and two-run fifth inning to win 7-6 at Boise State Saturday afternoon.  The Broncos rebounded in game two of the Western Athletic Conference doubleheader with a 15-0 victory in five innings.

Aiello followed up her 2-for-4 effort on Friday with the three hits on Saturday.  She also scored two of the team's seven runs.

Brittany McConnell added to her career home run and RBI totals in the game as she hit a two-run shot in the fifth to give the Spartans the lead for good.  She now has 35 home runs and 162 RBI in her Spartan career.

After falling behind 5-0 early in the game, San Jose State responded with a five-run effort in the fourth inning.  Aiello started the inning with a single, advance to second on a wild pitch and to third on a McConnell ground out.  Ursula Lopez then singled to score Aiello.  With Lauren Shanks pinch running for Lopez, she advanced to second as Natasha Hawkins reached base on an error.  Both advanced another base as Alex Stange drew a walk.  Danni Brown then doubled to left field to score Hawkins and Shanks.  After a pitching change, Markesha Collins the doubled to score Stange and Brown.

Amanda Pridmore recorded her 15th win of the season, tying for the fifth-best single season win total in school history.  She pitched 3.1 innings in relief of starter Jaclyn Imhof.  Pridmore allowed just one hit and struck out three.  Imhof pitched the first 3.2 innings, allowing nine hits, six runs, five earned, and struck out four.

The Spartans were run-ruled in game two, 15-0, in five innings.  Garcia and Ursula Lopez each recorded a double, and Fangonilo added a single as the team's only three hits of the game.

San Jose State returns to SJSU Field next weekend for the final home games of the season.  The Spartans host New Mexico State in the final WAC series of the year.  Friday's single game begins at 3 p.m., followed by Saturday's doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.  The Spartan's nine seniors will be honored on Saturday.
