Stanford, Calif.-Spartan Julianne Aiello went 2-for-2 Tuesday night and drove in the only San Jose State run, but three errors contributed to the Spartans' 4-1 loss at Stanford Tuesday night.
Aiello hit a single to right center field in the third inning to drive in pinch runner Lauren Shanks from second base. Shanks was pinch running for Brittany McConnell who came just inches away from hitting her eight home run of the year. Instead, McConnell hit her 10th double of the year and the 40th of her career to put her into second place on the all-time Spartan list.
Spartan starting pitcher Amanda Pridmore pitched the first 3.2 innings of the game, allowing six hits, four runs, three earned, and three walks while striking out two as her record fell to 14-8. Jaclyn Imhof pitched two innings and allowed one hit in seven batters face. Jen Ames got the final out of the sixth inning.
The Spartans next play a three-game Western Athletic Conference series this weekend at Boise State. The two teams will play a single game Friday at 3 p.m. MDT, and a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. MDT.
