Softball Sets Record In 2-1 Loss At Utah State

Logan, Utah-Ursula Lopez hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to help San Jose State break the single season team home run record.  But the Spartans allowed runs in the sixth and seventh innings to Utah State in a 2-1 loss in Logan to conclude the three-game Western Athletic Conference series.

Lopez's home run to left field was the 31st hit by a Spartan this season, breaking the old record of 30 set by the 2006 team and tied by the current team last Friday.  Lopez hit just her second home run of the year and is one of 12 Spartan players to hit a home run this year.

Both teams were held scoreless until Lopez's home run in the fourth inning.  San Jose State was able to hold Utah State without a run until the sixth inning when the Aggies got a run on two hits.  Utah State scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh with two hits and a Spartan error.

Amanda Pridmore pitched her 13th complete game of the season as her record fell to 14-7.  She allowed just five hits, two runs (one earned) and struck out six while walking just one Aggie batter.

San Jose State returns to the Bay Area for a rescheduled game at Stanford Tuesday night at 6 p.m. The Spartans then travel to Boise State a three-game WAC series on
