Game Record Tied In 6-4 Loss

Logan, Utah-Jessica Garcia continued her hot hitting this weekend by tying a San Jose State softball game record in the Spartans' 6-4 loss at Utah State in the final game of the Western Athletic Conference series.

Garcia had three doubles in the loss, tying teammate Cheryl Freitas who recorded three doubles in the final game of the series against Nevada.  Garcia becomes just the seventh WAC player to hit three doubles in a WAC game in conference history.  She was responsible in some way for all four Spartans runs in the game - driving in three runs and scoring a run.

The Spartans had seven hits in the loss, including a triple by Cheryl Freitas to drive in Garcia.  Michelle Cox, Annica Wolfe and Britney Helm recorded hits in the game.

Jennifer Ames started in the circle for the Spartans, pitching the first 2.1 innings and allowed five hits and three earned runs.  She struck out one and walked one.  Jordan Sauceda pitched the next 1.2 innings, allowing two hits and one run.  Amanda Pridmore pitched the final two innings, allowing three hits and two runs as her record fell to 16-10.

San Jose State is now 25-21 on the season and 8-5 in the WAC.  The team returns to the state of Utah next week for four games.  They play their final non-conference game of the season at Utah Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m. MDT, followed by a three-game WAC series at Brigham Young.  The teams will play a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.  All three games will be show on BYUtv.
