Denver, Colo. - Michelle Cox has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Hitter of the Week for April 1-7. This is Cox's first-ever honor.
Cox, a sophomore outfielder from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, led San Jose State to a 3-1 record last week. She hit .615 with a double, a home run, three RBI and three stolen bases. She posted a .667 on-base percentage and a .923 slugging percentage. Cox, who got a hit in all four games, opened the week with a hit, two walks and two stolen bases in a shutout win over Santa Clara. In the series opener against Seattle U, she hit her first career homer to account for the Spartans’ scoring in a 2-1 loss. On Saturday, Cox went 3-for-4 with one RBI in both games.
San Jose State faces No. 14-Stanford on Wednesday, April 10, at 6:00 p.m. before traveling for a WAC series to Louisiana Tech on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
