Softball Swept at UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, Calif.-After being rained out on Saturday, the San Jose State softball team dropped a pair of games to UC Santa Barbara, 4-1 and 7-2, Sunday afternoon to close out the Gaucho Classic II.

The Spartans had nine hits in the first game including two from Jessica Garcia, Breanna Lopez and Alex Stange. Pitcher Amanda Pridmore fell to 8-5 on the season after allowing five hits, four runs, three earned and struck out three.

In the second game, Sadie Coenen led the Spartan hitting attack with two of the seven hits.  San Jose State left seven runners on base.  Pitcher Madison Fish started the game and gave up four runs and five hits as her record fell to 5-2.  Jennifer Ames pitched five innings in relief and struck out four while also giving up five hits and three runs.

San Jose State opens Western Athletic Conference play next weekend with a three-game series at Hawaii on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24.
