Ames Named WAC Pitcher Of The Week

Spartan pitcher Jennifer Ames has been named the WAC Pitcher of Week after pitching two complete games and recording a save as San Jose State went 6-0 on the weekend.


Ames pitched two complete games in wins over Cal State Bakersfield, 3-1, and Santa Clara, 2-1.  She also recorded a save in another 3-1 win over the Roadrunners as she pitched two-thirds of an inning.  Ames now has three career saves.  She struck out three on the weekend.


This is the first honor this season and the second of her career for Ames.


San Jose State next competes this weekend at the Libby Matson Tournament in Stockton, Calif.  The Spartans face Oregon (10 a.m.) and Pacific (2 p.m.) on Friday and Oregon (10 a.m.) and Santa Clara (12 p.m.) on Saturday.  The team enters the tournament with an 8-4 record.
