Tempe, Ariz.-San Jose State scored 15 runs in five innings as Alex Stange and Jessica Garcia drove in seven runs between them in a 15-3 win over Cal Poly in five innings Friday evening at the Kajikawa Classic.
The Spartans got three-run home runs from Jessica Garcia and Alex Stange. Garcia hit her three-run home run in the top of the first after Britney Helm and Michelle Cox reached base to bring Garcia to the plate. Stange hit her three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to drive in Garcia and Cox.
Helm and Cox each had two hits, while Cox scored four runs in the game. Helm and Garcia each scored three runs. Anica Wolfe also drove in four runs for the Spartans.
In the circle, Amanda Pridmore pitched five innings, allowing just five hits and three runs while striking out a career-best 11 batters.
On Saturday, San Jose State plays Oregon at 1:30 p.m.MST and Texas A&M at 7:00 p.m. MST at the Kajikawa Classic.
