Pridmore Receives Preseason All-WAC Honors

Denver-San Jose State junior pitcher Amanda Pridmore has been selected to the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Preseason All-WAC team, as selected by the conference's softball coaches.  The Spartans were picked seventh in the preseason poll.

Pridmore finished the 2010 season with an 18-12 overall record and a 3.27 ERA.  In 207.2 innings pitched, she had 151 strikeouts and 18 complete games.  Pridmore also recorded four saves and is currently tied for second all-time at San Jose State with seven.  In the Spartan career record book, she is fifth in strikeouts with 254 and ninth in wins with 26.  Pridmore is also successful in the classroom as she is a San Jose State Scholar Athlete and a two-time WAC All-Academic honoree.

San Jose State was selected seventh in the poll after finishing the 2010 season with a 34-25 overall record and an 8-13 WAC mark.  The Spartans did lose 10 letterwinners from last season, but have brought in 11 new players for this season.

The coaches did pick Hawaii to win the WAC regular-season crown after the Rainbow Wahine made it all the way to the Softball College World Series last season. Hawai'i junior hurler Stephanie Ricketts earned preseason Pitcher of the Year honors, while teammate sophomore outfielder Kelly Majam earned preseason Player of the Year honors.

San Jose State opens the 2011 campaign at the Kajikawa Classic next week, Feb. 10-13, in Arizona.  The Spartans face Mississippi on Thursday, Feb. 10, followed by Cal State Northridge and Nebraska on Friday, Appalachian State and Portland State on Saturday and host Arizona State on Sunday.  The team's first home games will be on Sunday, February 20, against Santa Clara at 12 p.m., on SJSU Field.
