Heather Oranje Earns NSCAA Academic Honor

San Jose, Calif. - San Jose State University women's soccer player Heather Oranje has earned 2006 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas College Scholar All-Far West Region honorable mention.

Oranje is a junior defender out of Concord, Calif., and Berean Christian High School, who has a 3.52 GPA in molecular biology. She was one of just four Spartans to start all 21 games during the 2006 season, finishing with one goal and one assist for three total points. Her goal was the 88th-minute game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Idaho State in the Spartans’ home opener on September 8. Her assist, the first of her collegiate career, came on the game-winning opener in the 10th minute of a 5-0 rout of conference foe Louisiana Tech at home on October 15. Seven of her 16 shots were on goal.

Oranje is a two-time San Jose State University “Scholar-Athlete,” and was an Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honoree for the 2004 season.
