Women's Soccer Receives More Recognition

Boise, Idaho - Two members of the San Jose State University women's soccer team earned recognition over the weekend for their play at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Boise. In the tournament, the top-seeded Spartans lost their semifinal match, 2-1, to Nevada, on an overtime goal.

Spartan sophomore defender Jessica Ingram, who had already collected the WAC Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-WAC honors, was named to the All-Tournament Team. Joining Ingram on the All-Tournament Team was fellow all-conference first-teamer, senior midfielder Hallsie Pacheco.

Pacheco and Ingram helped lead the Spartans to one of the best seasons in program history. The Spartans posted a record of 11-6-3 in a campaign that was highlighted by a school-record unbeaten streak of 14 games.

The Spartans, who won the first regular-season championship in program history, will learn their post-season fate tonight. The NCAA selection committee will announce the tournament bracket between 5 and 5:30 p.m. PST.  ESPNews will air the announcement live. Tournament host Boise State earned the WAC's automatic bid into the 2009 NCAA Championship with a 1-0 triumph over Nevada in Sunday's title game.
