Women's soccer falls to Hawaii, 4-0

San Jose, Calif.—The San Jose State Women’s soccer team fell to the University of Hawaii, 4-0, in their final Western Athletic Conference game of the season Friday night at Spartan Stadium.

Hawaii (9-7-2 overall, 5-2-0 WAC) opened up a 1-0 halftime lead with three goals in the second half to secure their fifth conference victory.

Wanette Miyashara scored the first and fourth goals of the match for the Rainbow Wahine’s, while Natasha Kai collected a goal and two assists.

The Spartans (3-10-5 overall, 1-4-2 WAC) out shot Hawaii in the first half 10-3, and in the game, 18-12, but were unable to capitalize on any of their opportunities. Hawaii, meanwhile, scored their first three goals on only four shot attempts on goal.

Hawaii was able to set the tone early in each half. The Rainbow Wahine’s scored in the 13th minute of the first, and in the 50th minute of the second.

The San Jose State Women’s soccer team will wrap up their 2002 season Sunday, Nov. 3, with a 2:30 p.m. game against Sacramento State at Spartan Stadium.
