Molina, Phan Awarded Post-Season Honors

Denver, Colo. - Defender Megan Molina was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) second team, following a vote by the conference's nine head coaches, and was named to the College Sports Madness All-WAC first team.

A junior, Molina was her team's most offensive player this season, recording two goals and a career-high six assists for 10 points, also a career-high. Her 21 shots were the most taken in a campaign since she came to San Jose State in 2010.

The native of San Ramon, Calif., was one of five Spartans to play in every match this season, marking the third-consecutive year she has done so, and led her team in minutes-played.

"Megan made an impact from the first day of preseason," said San Jose State head coach Jeff Leightman. "She was our most consistent and most effective player from game one to the last game.

"Megan came in to the season incredibly fit and ready to play, and I was proud of how she stepped up her game this year. She made a huge impact in the game and her hard work was evident of that."

Senior Helen Phan encountered a breakout season in 2012. She played more minutes this season than she had in her previous three years as a Spartan. Phan also netted her first-career points, two goals and an assist, and recorded a season-high five shots.
