Paige Simoneau Wins Second MW Defensive Player Of The Week Award

Colorado Springs, Colo. --- San José State keeper Paige Simoneau is the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week after making seven saves on the way to a 1-0 shutout against Fresno State on Friday.

It is the second MW Defensive Player of the Week award this season for Simoneau and a conference-leading fifth of the season for the Spartans.

Simoneau made three saves in the first half and four in the second half, helping the Spartans win their program-record ninth Mountain West match of the season. It was the seventh shutout of the year which ties the school-record set by the team now in three consecutive seasons.

The regular season champion Spartans head to Las Vegas as the No. 1 seed and will play in the semi-final match on Thursday, November 2, at 7:00 p.m. (PT).
