Women's Soccer Loses to #5 Santa Clara, 3-0

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The San Jose State women's soccer team fell to fifth-ranked Santa Clara, 3-0, Tuesday night in a non-conference match at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Spartans are now 5-11-1 on the season, while Santa Clara improves to 12-4-2 overall.

Bronco Leslie Osborne scored her fourth game-winner of the season with a 10-yard shot in the eighth minute. Senior Megan Kakadelas followed with her fifth goal of the year in the 21st minute to help the Broncos to a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Defender Monika Sola scored her first collegiate goal at 49:08. Elyse Shelger
took a corner kick from the near side and Sola tapped in the serve for
the 3-0 Bronco lead.

San Jose State was out-shot by an 18-2 margin. The Spartans final attempt in
the match was a header by Heather Dickinson, off a corner kick that
sailed high in the final 10 minutes of the contest. Nicole Irwin took
the Spartanss other shot during first-half action.

In addition, this match counted toward the teams' Rivalry Series point total. With victories in both volleyball and men's soccer earlier this fall, Santa Clara currently leads the season-long competition by a 9-0 score.
