Gather your friends of all ages and have a fun weekend of soccer action at San Jose State. The second "6-A-Side Soccer Tournament " of the summer hosted by the San Jose State University teams is set for July 27 & 28 on the fields adjacent to Spartan Stadium. Every team entered will play a minimum of three games during the two-day event. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Spartan soccer teams.

Entry fee is $200.00 per team with a 10 percent discount available to teams that register before July 1. Each team must have at lesat eight and no more than 12 players.

The first "6-A-Side Soccer Tournament" generated more than $4,000 for Spartan soccer. 30 teams from as far away as Sacramento participated. One of the winning teams was an under-12 boys team from the Mexican-American Community Services Agency (MACSA) of Silicon Valley. With the sponsorship of the San Jose CyberRays of the WUSA, six MACSA teams played in the first "6-A-Side Soccer Tournament."

"This was an opportunity to boost our programs, as well as, give a little back to our local community," said Cris Gilmore, Spartan women's assistant coach and tournament director.
