San Jose—San Jose State took just four shots on goal, and Rice got two goals from Sarah Yoder as the Owls defeated the Spartans 2-0 Friday afternoon in a Western Athletic Conference match at Spartan Soccer Field.

Yoder scored both of her goals within five minutes of each other. Her first goal came at 30:47 in front of the net from passes from Callye Dannheim and Ashley Anderson. Yoder’s second goal at 35:04 was header off a corner kick from Kristen Lindsey.

The Spartans four shots on goal came from Alison Jablonsky, Shannon Leslie, Heather Dickinson and Cori Borja. SJSU took nine shots compared to 22 for Rice (10 on goal).

San Jose State falls to 2-14 overall and 1-6 in the WAC, while Rice improves to 8-7-1 overall ad 5-2 in the WAC. The Spartans return home on Sunday to face Tulsa at 12 p.m., at Spartan Soccer Field.
