Women's soccer shut out by UTEP in WAC home opener

San Jose, Calif.—The San Jose State University women’s soccer team was shut out 4-0 in their WAC home opener by the unbeaten UTEP Miners Friday night at Spartan Stadium.

The Minors (12-0-0 overall, 3-0-0 WAC) scored two times in the first half and twice more in the second half collecting their twelve straight victory of the year.

The Spartans (2-8-3 overall, 0-2-1 WAC) had many opportunities to put a goal on the board late in the game, but were denied every time by Miner substitute goalie Carol Moore.

Each of the Miners top scorers collected another goal for their totals in Friday’s victory. Kelly Parker opened the game’s scoring with her ninth goal in the 19-minute. Miranda Cuthbertson scored the night’s second goal with her 16th score of the year in the 34-minute.
