Women's soccer yet to beat Saint Mary's after a 3-0 loss Tuesday

MORAGA, Calif.---The San Jose State University women's soccer team lost, 3-0, at Saint Mary's in a non-conference match-up Tuesday afternoon at Garaventa Field. The loss means the Spartans are 0-6 against the Gaels in the overall series.

The Gaels (3-4-1) scored twice in the first half against the Spartans (2-5-1). Sarah Burgess scored in the 18th minute and Lucianna Crenshaw added another in the 35th minute. Sarah Churchill earned an assist on each goal. Shauna Rech tallied the final goal in the 60th minute directly of a free kick.

Saint Mary's pressured the Spartans outshooting San Jose State 23-5 in the game, limiting the Spartans to just one shot in the first half.

San Jose State's Erin Lavey made nine saves on 12 shots on goal. The Gaels split the duties in net. Alyson Berger played the first half recording just one save. Amaya Zabala and Ruth Montgomery split time in the second half, each recording a save.

San Jose State continues the five-game road swing before hosting UTEP in the Western Athletic Conference home opener on October 11. The Spartans will face Idaho this Friday before heading to Washington to face Gonzaga on Sunday.
