Irwin named to National Honor Roll

San Jose State University midfielder Nicole Irwin has been named to the women’s soccer “National Honor Roll” for the week of October 2-8.

This is the third weekly honor of the season for the junior from Dublin, Calif., and Dublin High School. Irwin had already been named the Western Athletic Conference “Offensive Player of the Week” and gained selection to the Soccer Buzz “National Elite Team of the Week” after producing three goals and one assist for seven total points in a pair of conference victories. Irwin had the game-winning goals in a 3-0 home win over Boise State on October 6 and a 1-0 road triumph at Idaho on October 8 to open the WAC season.

San Jose State is 6-8-2 overall and 3-0-1 in WAC play for the first time since the Spartans joined the conference for the 1996 season. San Jose State is alone in first place in the latest conference standings, with 10 points from four games.

The Spartans travel to Honolulu, Hawaii, to face the University of Hawai’i on Sunday, October 22. Fans can access live streaming video of the critical conference contest for a fee of $9.95 at
