Women's Soccer Defeated by Boise State

San Jose—The San Jose State women’s soccer team scored two goals in the final 20 minutes of its match but could not get any closer as the Spartans lost to Boise State 4-2 Sunday afternoon in a Western Athletic Conference match at Spartan Stadium.

The Broncos scored the first four goals of the match, three in the second half. The only goal of the first half was by Kristin Hall at the 39:04 mark off a Kaziah Hill shot that rebounded off SJSU goalie Erin Lavey. Brittany Zoellner scored two goals in the second half, one on a penalty kick and an unassisted goal on a breakaway. Hall scored the final goal at 65:52 off a Spartan turnover in front of the goal.

San Jose State’s first goal came at 70:13 as Alaina Chandler scored on a shot in which Bronco goalie Kim Parker was out of the net. Shannon Leslie recorded the only assist on the goal. Cori Borja then scored her first goal of the season at 75:10 off a pass from Heather Dickison and shot from the right side.

The Spartans took six shots in the match, three on goal. Lavey made nine saves in the net.

San Jose State falls to 2-10 overall and 1-3 in the WAC. Boise State improves to 4-8-1 overall and 1-1 in the WAC. San Jose State now plays at Fresno State Friday evening.
