Women's soccer gearing up for start of conference season

The San Jose State University women's soccer team opens the 2005 Western Athletic Conference season in the week ahead, traveling to Boise, Idaho, to take on the Broncos of Boise State on Friday, October 7, before playing host to the Vandals of Idaho on Sunday, October 9, at 1:00 p.m. inside Spartan Stadium.

The Spartans are 0-9-2 after dropping their lone game in the past week, falling 2-1 to fifth-ranked South Bay rival Santa Clara University at Spartan Stadium on Wednesday night, September 28.

Boise State (6-4-2) was on a school-record seven-game unbeaten streak prior to dropping consecutive games in the state of Texas this past weekend, 2-0 at No. 13 Texas A&M on Friday and 1-0 in overtime at TCU on Sunday.

Like Boise State, Idaho (2-9) lost both games over the weekend, falling 3-1 at Gonzaga on Friday and 1-0 at home to Eastern Washington on Sunday.
