Spartans tie Hawai'i in WAC opener

    HONOLULU, Hawai'i -- San Jose State University's women's soccer team began its Western Athletic Conference schedule Thursday night (Sept. 28) with a 1-1 double overtime time against Hawai'i.

    Kristina Jacob scored the Spartans' goal at the 54:34 mark, on an assist from Brandy Apodaca. The goal was the third of the season for Jacob, while Apodaca recorded her second assist of the year.

    Hawai'i answered in the 79th minute on Tiffany Makue's goal.

    The Spartans are now 4-7-1 overall, 0-0-1 in WAC games. San Jose State continues conference action Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. (MT) game at the University of Nevada in Reno.
