San Diego, Calif. Facing their second Mountain West Conference opponent and with an opportunity to sweep a two game weekend set, the San Jose State women’s soccer team came up on the short end of a 3-0 score against the San Diego State Aztecs. The loss drops the Spartans record to 2-5-3 while San Diego State improves to 4-5-1.

In the second half the Aztecs began to exert their will. They out shot the Spartans, 9-3, and scored a pair of goals less than a minute apart to secure the win.
At the 61:12 mark, SDSU defender Gretel Amman took a long punt from the Aztec keeper and chipped it from the top of the box over Spartan goalkeeper Nina Butera to increase the lead to 2-0. Just 0:54 later, Heather Vandevanter took a cross and lobbed it into the net for the final goal and a 3-0 Aztec win.
