Women's soccer hosts No. 5 Santa Clara September 28

The San Jose State University women's soccer team will play just once in the week ahead, at home against fifth-ranked South Bay rival Santa Clara University (7-1-1) on Wednesday, September 28, at Spartan Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. It will be the second contest of the season in the 2005-06 “Rivalry Series” between the schools, following the Tuesday, September 27 women’s volleyball match at Santa Clara.

San Jose State, now at 0-8-2 on the year, lost one game and tied another in the past week. The Spartans were defeated at home by San Francisco, 2-0, on Friday, September 23, prior to settling for a 2-2 double-overtime tie at Sacramento State on Sunday, September 25.

The Santa Clara game will be the Spartans' final non-conference test before opening the 2005 Western Athletic Conference season in Boise, Idaho, on Friday, October 7, against Boise State University, currently 6-2-1.
