Dorthe Hoppius Wins Mountain West Offensive Player Of The Week

Sept. 25, 2017

Colorado Springs, Colo. --- San José State senior forward Dorthe Hoppius is the Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games through September 24.
The native of Dorsten, Germany helped the Spartans sweep the opening weekend of Mountain West play with wins over Utah State and Boise State.

"I'm so happy for Didi because of the amount of hard work she has put into her game," said Spartans' head coach Lauren Hanson. "She deserves this recognition and two solid team performances helped her earn it. I want to give props to our overall team effort in helping her get recognized."
Hoppius assisted San José State's first goal against Utah State, which was an equalizer in the 65th minute. The Spartans went on to win the match in double-over time.
Then on Sunday, Hoppius scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Boise State. Hoppius' aggressive play led to six shots on goal and 15 shots total in the two matches.
San José State continues Mountain West play on the road this week with matches at Colorado State (Sept. 29) and Wyoming (Oct. 1).
