2009 Spartan Women's Soccer Blog 5

Senior midfielder Hallsie Pacheco writes her first entry this week to the Spartans' 2009 season blog. The native of Lodi, Calif., who attended Lodi High School, is in her fourth and final season in a Spartan uniform. She is the Spartans' active leader in both games played (58) and games started (34), and has tallied her first three collegiate goals over the first eight matches this season, including her first career game-winner against Notre Dame de Namur on Tuesday, September 22. Hallsie is majoring in organismal biology, with an emphasis in zoology, and is planning on attending veterinary school.

San Jose State concludes a season-long three-match homestand this Friday night, September 25, hosting Air Force. Kick-off inside Spartan Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. Individual game tickets for Spartan Soccer are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for youth aged 12 and under, and $1.00 for youth in soccer jerseys. San Jose State students can attend free of charge with a valid Tower ID card. Groups of 20 or more receive a discounted rate. Gates open one hour prior to the start of a match.

Making History!

Our trip to the East Coast was definitely one to remember, both soccer-wise and personally. We won both our games and made some history (8-0 win at Howard), and it was a great feeling as a senior to be able to be a part of it all. Also, being able to travel with 18 of my best friends, there is never a dull moment! With seeing the White House, Lincoln Memorial, and many other things, I definitely have some memories I will cherish forever! Even though I didn't get to see President Obama, overall, it was the best soccer trip I have ever been on!

Ever since we have been home from the road, we have been working harder than ever (and my ears are still popping from the long plane flights)! Let me tell ya, juggling classes and soccer is not an easy task. But once we get on the field, nothing else matters! We won our next two games at home, and I am pumped! It is so exciting to be a part of a team like this one. This is the most fun and most exciting season of soccer here at San Jose State that I have experienced! But what I can't wait for is for Friday against Air Force! If we win... we make Spartan women's soccer history (fifth straight victory)!!! I am so proud of our team, and so honored to be a part of it all! Watch history be made, Friday at 7:30!!!
