SAN JOSE - Marcia Wallis scored two goals to lead Stanford to a 3-0 win over San Jose State at the adidas Bay Area Classic Sunday at Spartan Stadium.

Wallis gave the Cardinal a 1-0 lead at the 26:25 mark of the first half. A Stanford throw-in by Becky Myers went to Marcie Ward, whose cross was deflected by San Jose State goalkeeper Eryn Myer. The ball went to Wallis, who tapped it in for the goal.

Wallis scored her second goal at 51:50. The goal came after Kelsey Carlson passed the ball to Marcie Ward near the midfield stripe. Ward dribbled to about 20 yards out and passed to Wallis, whose shot from six yards out found the net just inside the right post.

Brittany Oliveira scored Stanford's final goal at the 63:38 mark. Carlson was credited with an assist on the play. San Jose State outshot the Cardinal 8-7 during the game. The Spartans' best opportunity to score was at the 50:43 mark of the second half when Jackie Ostdiek's header hit the cross bar.

Spartan head coach Tamie Grimes said despite the loss, "I think it's the best we've played in a while, maybe all season. I told the team that this weekend will help us in the WAC."

San Jose State, now 4-7 overall, opens Western Athletic Conference play Thursday at Hawai'i.

Ostdiek and Rosie Madera were named to the all-tournament team, selected in a vote of coaches, sports information directors and tournament officials.
