Women's Soccer Travels To Air Force And San Diego State

San Jose, Calif. - After a 2-1 loss at Bay Area rival San Francisco and a 0-0 tie against Miami University in Spartan Stadium last week, the Spartans embark on their longest road trip of the years as they play their next three matches on the road. This week they travel to a pair of Mountain West Conference opponents.

They are in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday, September 26 to take on the Falcons of the United States Air Force Academy in a 5:00 p.m. kickoff. The Falcons (3-6-0) participated in the Border Shootout, in El Paso, Texas last weekend. On Friday, Sept. 19, they lost to host UTEP, 3-1, before defeating Grambling State, 3-0, on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Offensively the Falcons are led by Bridgett Murphy, who has netted five goals on 37 shots this year. Roni Yadlin has three goals and an assist for seven points in 12 shots. In net, Ashlee Curtis has played the lions share of the minutes allowing eight goals while making 24 saves. She has a 1-4 record and a 1.38 GAA.

The trip to Colorado Springs will be a homecoming for Spartan assistant coach Craig Winans. Winans attended the Air Force Academy and played soccer for the Falcons in the late 70’s.

On Sunday, September 28, San Jose State will be in San Diego to battle the Aztecs of San Diego State (3-4-1). Kick off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. The Aztecs hosted UC Riverside on Friday and defeated the Highlanders, 3-1.

San Diego State is led by a pair for three goal scorers, Cat Walker and Jessica Gordon. The pair have each also collected an assist good for seven points overall. Between the pipes Aubree Southwick is 3-4. She has allowed 14 goals and made 32 saves for a GAA of 1.80.
