Women's Soccer Hosts Sacramento State Sunday

San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State University women’s soccer team (0-3-2) returns to action in Spartan Stadium this Sunday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. when they host the Hornets of Sacramento State.

The Hornets (1-2-1) lost to #21 UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, September 7, 2-0, and will face UC Davis on Friday, September 12, before traveling west to face the Spartans.

Sacramento State is led by two junior forwards, Ashley Forbes and Kim Kemper.  Forbes has tallied one goal and one assist for three points.  Her lone goal was the game winner versus UC Riverside.  Kemper leads the Hornets with eight shots and has scored one goal this season.  In net, senior Jenny Lawrence has allowed five goals and made 24 saves.  Her goals against average is 1.18.

The sides have two common opponents, Seattle University and UC Riverside.  Sacramento State and Seattle battled to a tie, 1-1, and two days later the Spartans and Redhawks did the same, 0-0.  The Hornets defeated UC Riverside, 1-0, last Friday while the Spartans fell to the Highlanders, 4-0, on Sunday.
