SEPTEMBER HOME GAMES
Friday’s match will be the second of six consecutive matches at the Spartan Soccer Complex during the month of September. After Cal Poly, another local rival Saint Mary’s comes to San Jose on September 15. Then SJSU begins Mountain West play with matches at home against Utah State (Sept. 22) and Boise State (Sept. 24).

SPARTANS SHUTOUT BY #10-GEORGETOWN
San José State surrendered a goal in the seventh minute against the Hoyas and weren’t able to climb back in a 3-0 loss to the country’s 10th-ranked team. The Spartans’ offense had more life in the second half, but still only managed two shots on goal which came from Dorthe Hoppius.

SPARTANS LOOK TO START FAST ON FRIDAY
Last Sunday Georgetown struck for its first goal in the seventh minute of the match. It was the third time in five matches that San José State allowed a goal within the first 15 minutes. The Spartans allowed a 13th-minute score to Montana, and a third-minute goal to UC Santa Barbara. Seven of the 10 goals that San José State has allowed this year have come in the first half.

MOUNTAIN WEST SNAPSHOT
The Spartans have two matches remaining before running into conference play. The Mountain West is currently led by UNLV which boasts a 5-1-0 overall record. The Rebels have scored 15 times this year while allowing five goals. Utah State and Boise State are second and third respectively in the standings and in the same order are SJSU’s opponents for the opening weekend of conference play (Sept. 22-24). San José State and Nevada are at the bottom with a 1-4-0 record. The slate gets wiped clean on September 22 when conference play begins for all 12 Mountain West teams.
