Women's Soccer Falls To #22 Pepperdine

SAN JOSE—The San Jose State women’s soccer team had only five shots, three on goal, as 22nd ranked Pepperdine scored six goals in a 30-minute span to win 7-0 Friday evening at Spartan Stadium.

Pepperdine scored early as Lacey Ubaldi scored at 5:56 in front of the goal on a rebound shot. Neither team could find the net for almost 37 minutes, but the Waves then scored two within 17 seconds. Megan Woods scored the second goal as she beat Spartan goalie Adrienne Herbst for the goal. Jenna Fodor got a breakaway pass and scored at 42:59 on a pass from Janelle Hillseth.

The second half brought more Pepperdine scoring as Jennifer Brewer scored three goals in less than 15 minutes. Ali Pavoni ended the Waves scoring with a goal at 73:27.

San Jose State got its five shots from three different players. Only Alaina Chandler, Shannon Leslie and Kara Krale recorded shots on goal. Herbst had three saves and allowed five goals in 65:42. Erin Lavey replaced her and had three saves and two goals allowed in 24:18.

The Spartans return home Sunday afternoon to face defending national champion Portland. The match begins at 4:30 p.m., at Spartan Stadium.
