Spartans Stopped At Cal Poly, 2-0

San Luis Obispo, Calif.-----Goals by Whitney Sisler and Bianca Burright within a 3:55 span late in the second half fueled Cal Poly to a 2-0 win over San Jose State University in a non-conference women's soccer match.

    Sisler scored the first goal of the match when she converted a rebound off a shot by teammate Afton Thulin at 76:59. Bianca Burright added the final goal of the match soon thereafter from 20 yards out driving a shot past San Jose State goalkeeper Meghan Maiwald at 80:54.

    The Spartans (0-4) managed just six shots during the match. Katie Knopp, with two, was the only San Jose State player with more than one shot in the Spartans' attacking half of the field. Cal Poly goalkeeper Brooke Gavrin needed to make just two saves for the shutout.

    Maiwald was busy throughout the match and was credited with a season-high eight saves against the Mustangs. Cal Poly (3-1) now has won three in a row.

    San Jose State returns to action, Sunday, September 5, hosting Cal State Bakersfield. Match time in Spartan Stadium is 1:00 p.m.
