SAN JOSE (September 4) - Camile Flenniken and Kelly Kunert each scored a goal as Wisconsin defeated San Jose State University, 2-1, in a non-conference women's soccer game Monday at Spartan Stadium.
Flenniken scored on a header at the 14:49 mark, the only goal of the first half. Assists were credited to Franziska Nickel and Allie Rogosheske.
Kundert scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 54:51, on an assist from Allison Wagner.
Kelly Pryor scored the Spartans' lone goal at the 77:32 mark, with Brandy Apodaca and Jolene Keel credited with assists on the play.
Despite the loss, SJSU head coach Tamie Grimes thought her team played well. "Our girls stepped up to the challenge," Grimes said.
San Jose State now stands at 2-3 overall, while Wisconsin improved to 2-2.
The next game for the Spartans is Sunday, Sept. 10, when San Jose State travels to Stockton, Calif. to take on the University of the Pacific.
