Women's Soccer Dominated By #1 Santa Clara

SAN JOSE – Top-ranked Santa Clara took 31 shots, 16 on goals, and the Spartans got only three shots on goal as the Spartans fell to the Broncos 9-1 Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match at Spartan Stadium.

Bronco Bree Horvath started her day early with a goal at 3:40 into the match. She added goals at 10:28 and 28:50, and Mega Kakadelas scored at 16:59 to give SCU a 4-0 lead with under 30 minutes played. Marian Dalmy scored the final goal of the first half at 39:58.

The Spartans only goal of the match came in the second half. Andrea Puljiz took a ball on the left side of the field and curved it into the goal at 62:12. This goal is the first one scored against Santa Clara since the 1997 season.

San Jose State returns home this Friday night at 7 p.m. to face Pepperdine at Spartan Stadium.
