SAN JOSE - Sacramento State's Lisa Wrightsman scored two goals during a 2:22 span in the first half to lift the Hornets to a 2-0 victory over San Jose State University in a non-conference women's soccer match August 31 at Spartan Stadium.
Wrightsman scored her first goal following Heidi Clabaugh's free kick. After gaining control of the ball, Wrightsman managed to slip past an SJSU defender and put the ball in the net.
Her second goal was on a breakaway after she had also worked her way past a Spartan defender.
The Hornets won despite being outshot 18-9 in the match. San Jose State recorded eight shots-on-goal to five for Sacramento State. The Spartans also had a large advantage in corner kicks, 7-2.
Sacramento State improved to 3-0 with the victory, while San Jose State dropped to 2-2 overall.
The next match for the Spartans is Monday, Sept. 4, when San Jose State hosts Wisconsin at 11:00 a.m. at Spartan Stadium.
