Women's soccer loses 3-0 at Pepperdine

Malibu, Calif.-----Two second-half goals in just under a 12:00 span propelled Pepperdine University to a 3-0 win over San Jose State University in a non-conference women’s soccer match.

At the 47:56 mark of the game, Pepperdine’s Samantha Hire scored an unassisted goal and Jenna Ainsworth added the final goal of the contest at 59:03 as the Waves improved their record to 2-0. Jenna Fodor scored the game’s first goal at 8:45.

San Jose State dropped to 0-2 after the first weekend of regular-season play.

Adrienne Herbst was credited with five saves in goal for San Jose State. Pepperdine outshot the Spartans, 18-8. San Jose State had three more shot attempts against Pepperdine than it did in the 1-0 loss at UC Irvine two days earlier.

The Spartans return to action, Friday, September 3 hosting the four-team Spartan Classic in Spartan Stadium. CS Sacramento and Miami (O.) meet in the first game at 5:00 p.m., followed by San Jose State and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) at 7:30 p.m. The Classic concludes Sunday, September 5 with CS Sacramento taking on IUPUI at noon and San Jose State hosting Miami (O.) at 2:30 p.m.
