TIGARD, Ore. -- San Jose State's Karli Silveira scored two goals and added an assist as the Spartans recorded its first win of the season, a 4-0 victory over Portland State Sunday.
Silveira scored her first goal at the 29:14 mark, less than a minute after entering the game. Two minutes later, Brandy Apodaca added a goal. Silveira then scored her second goal at the 37 minute mark.
In the second half, Julie Brum scored with six minutes left, assisted by Silveira and Jennifer Mescher. Mescher also had an assist on Silveira's first goal, while Erica Oatman was credited with an assist on Apodaca's score.
Goalkeeper Eryn Meyer, who transfered to San Jose State from Portland State, played all 90 minutes in the shutout. The Vikings managed just five total shots and one shot on goal in the match. The Spartans tallied 19 shots, including 10 shots on goal.
San Jose State plays its home opener on Tuesday, hosting Cal Poly at 7:30 p.m. at Spartan Stadium.
