EUGENE, Ore. (August 25) - Kristina Jacob scored twice in the second half to lead a San Jose State rally, but the Spartan women's soccer team dropped its season opener to the University of Oregon, 5-3, August 25.
Oregon held a 2-0 lead when Jolene Keel put the Spartans on the scoreboard at the 55:41 mark. The Ducks then added two more goals before Jacob scored twice -- at 67:33 and 77:19 of the second half. Oregon clinched the win with a goal with 3:33 left in the second half.
Jackie Ostdiek and Jennifer Mescher recorded assists for the Spartans. Ostdiek assisted on Keel's goal, and Mescher received an assist on Jacob's second goal.
The Spartans return to action Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. match at Portland State. San Jose State's home opener is Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. against Cal Poly at Spartan Stadium.
