Women's soccer ties Sonoma State, 1-1, in exhibition contest

Sonoma, Calif.-----Molly Flanagan converted a free kick in the 72nd minute of play as San Jose State University tied Sonoma State University, 1-1, in a women’s soccer exhibition contest.

Erin Lavey and Adrienne Herbst split the goalkeeping duties. Lavey played the first half and Herbst finished the game playing both overtime periods.

Sonoma State opened the scoring as Crystal Howard scored off a feed from Angelina Wion at the 3:53 mark of the first half.

The Spartans outshot the Seawolves, 16-6. Adena Miller of Sonoma State was credited with seven saves. Lavey and Herbst each had a save for the Spartans.

San Jose State opens the 2004 season, Friday, August 27, at UC Irvine in a non-conference match. Kick off is at 7:00 p.m.
